Frequently Asked Questions
Is my MP4 uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs inside your browser using FFmpeg.wasm. Your files never leave your device — no upload, complete privacy.
What video formats are supported?
MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI, WebM, FLV, 3GP, WMV, M4V, and TS files can all be converted to MP3.
What bitrate should I choose?
192 kbps is the recommended standard for music. 128 kbps is good for speech/podcasts. 320 kbps gives the highest quality but larger file size.
Is there a file size limit?
No server-side limit. Processing happens locally in your browser. Very large files (2 GB+) may be limited by your device's available RAM.
How long does conversion take?
Processing time depends on your device's CPU speed and the file size. A typical 4-minute music video at 192 kbps takes 10–30 seconds on a modern laptop. The first load takes longer as FFmpeg.wasm needs to initialize.
Can I convert YouTube videos to MP3?
This tool converts video files you already have on your device — it does not download from YouTube or other streaming services. For local MP4 files you own, the conversion is instant and private.
How It Works
This tool uses FFmpeg.wasm — a WebAssembly port of FFmpeg that runs entirely in your browser. It strips the video stream and re-encodes the audio track as MP3 using the libmp3lame encoder. Your files are never uploaded to any server.
